Are Radar Detectors Still Worth It?

Hey everyone, so I have always kicked around the idea of getting a radar detector, but never pulled the trigger. I have a good buddy with the Escort Max 360 who loves it, however I hear so many differing opinions on this topic and that the jammers are now what's really needed. I am well aware that the cheap detectors aren't even worth having, but something like the Max 360 or the Valentine One.... Do they really work well? I am in New Jersey if that helps my case.
